The true color of Serenissima
Gold has always been central to Venetian craftsmanship, embodying the wealth and magnificence of the Serenissima Republic. Venice’s goldsmithing tradition, rooted in the Byzantine era, established the city as a hub of refined artistic production. Generations of skilled artisans perfected techniques to create extraordinary works, from the gilded details of the Basilica of San Marco to the opulent adornments of churches, palaces, and artifacts. This mastery in goldwork became a symbol of the power and grandeur that defined the Serenissima.
Our Tribute to Venetian Goldbeaters
The case back of the Nereide Aureo pays homage to Venetian elegance, depicting the majesty of the main nave of the Basilica of San Marco. This building is renowned for its walls adorned with gold leaf, a symbol of the exquisite art of Venetian gold beaters. The engraving on the case back not only strengthens the model’s connection to our homeland but also celebrates Venice’s rich artisanal tradition.
