The History of Aventurine

It is said that in the 14th century, the name “aventurine” derived from the term “adventure,” indicating an uncertain and risky operation. In fact, the Venetian glassmakers who first produced aventurine did so by accident, spilling copper fragments into a blue glass paste. From 1644 onwards, the processing technique was codified, and Venetian aventurine artifacts soon became the most prized of the era. The lithograph represents a visit by the Doge to the workshops on the island of Burano, the production district for this glass.

Stardust

The deep black of aventurine, speckled with a constellation of tiny fragments of light, evokes the dense mystery of the stars and the darkness of the cosmos. The dial’s construction is completed with ingot-shaped indices filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9 luminescent pigment.
